bob,
concerning your browser cut and paste problem. take a look at opera.
it has a somewhat steep learning curve to tweak things, but the interface
itself is intuitive. it may have better behavior than NS.
i would say that NS isn't even in the same league as this browser. it's
truly remarkable. much faster: NS 6 takes about 15 seconds to load and
display the home page. opera takes less than 5 seconds. more stable: it
hasn't crashed on a webpage yet, and i've been using it exclusively for
almost a week now.
the best thing is that they concentrate on useful features (like a really
superior bookmarks scheme) and don't concentrate on non-useful features,
(like instant messaging).
it's ad supported (free), but will remove the ads for an educational price
of $20. if you like the browser and want to do your part to make sure that
it's around next year, i recommend that you (and everyone who uses it) to
pay the measely 20 bucks. if nothing else but to tell the developers that
they're doing a great job and are filling a niche that netscape simply isn't
filling.
it comes in tarball, deb and rpm format, and is not open source.
