Hello boyz and girlz, men and women.
I attended the alice mtg last month and found
religion. But I am a newbie who is trying to install redhat (I know,
I can rely on the next installfest, but attepting to do on my own) on a 486 box
a friend bequeathed me. So I am going w/ the distro supplied w/ the "learning
redhat linux" by oreilly. Dont know the version but when installing sez 2.0; is
this the kernal or the version? I couldnt say.
Anyway, have tried to install w/ custom,
workstation and server options. In each case, install shuts down anywhere
between 46+/- mb and 270+/- mb with error msg to the effect of "install exited
abnormally -- received signal?" and the susequent shutting down of the various
install files.
Particulars of the box:
cpu
ibm6x86l pr200+ 150 mhz
mboard mk78178991
w/ award bios 1995 pci/pnp 586, v 5.2a
chipset vxpro
pc82ca37vxt
memory 32
mb total edo by sieman 2 sticks, and crystal 332-b sticks
hd
quantum 1280 at ide
modem isa
slot, rockwell 95 l3u/g chip, smart one model 336 flx
cdrom
standard
fd standard
mouse ps/2
on card w/ game console port
So what ideas does the collective consciousness
think re the inability for complete install?
Thanks for your help.
Tom.
