I have done a bit of burning of DVD+R and +RW media for work here. I use cdrecord-prodvd and xcdroast for the GUI.
I have successfully recorded 4.7 GB of data on +R media, but I have no experience with -R media whatsoever. We use Plextor 504A. >From what I know of DVD, can't you use a block copy (dd) to build your image, and then cdrecord to burn? Or is your problem with burning the actual image? I had lots of problems burning when I was using the cdrecord-prodvd binary. The latest version of xcdroast (0.98alpha14) seemed to help out alot with the issues that I was having. But even now, it says that there are "errors writing tracks" when the burn was completely successful, so it's still kinda weird. Any help I can give, please let me know.
