I had this problem with one of my old p2 machines some years back and had
to
contact a bios specialist to get a replacement bios.  I could find no
other
solution, but an updated bios fixed it.  Have you checked to see if you
can
flash it to an updated version?

Pete, perhaps someone in your general area has a win9x installed harddrive they could lend you? Either that or you need a bios expert.
