I think the gripe was probably beacuse overwriting the MBR destroyed the windows bootloader, which was a new concept to win2K & xp hence why it didn't matter for win98.

But, it's also true that you can always just reload or use a different bootloader. I'm pretty happy with grub as mine on a daul boot.
