Hi,
I've tried all combinations of these to GRUB at boot, but no difference :/
When I boot the hdd on a notebook dmesg says "using PIO mode 4, Ultra DMA mode
2"
But when it fails in voyage it says "using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2" (then it
downgrades).
However, I've tested to use Ultra DMA with TinyBIOS when Alix2c2 boots, but
without any success.
Any other ideas? Does anyone know if someone actually managed to add an IDE
2.5" HDD on an alix board?

Hi,
Try appending each of two kernel parameters at grub prompt to test:
1. all_generic_ide
2. ide=nodma
And report to the list which one work in your case. Thanks.
