So nobody is phyisically near your voyage-alix-system? If there is you could ask that person to power off/on the system (if rebooting is an option). As long you haven't already synced the disk (with a clean reboot) chances are good "/var/run" gets cleared after power off/on. Everything else is considered "cracking" your system and might be difficult.
