My grub menu (not LILO) on a ALIX2D3 looks like this:

serial --speed=38400
terminal serial

timeout 5
default 0

title voyage-linux-24Jul09 nomfgpt
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz root=LABEL=ROOT_FS console=ttyS0,38400n8 nomfgpt
initrd /initrd.img

title voyage-linux-24Jul09
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz root=LABEL=ROOT_FS console=ttyS0,38400n8
initrd /initrd.img

-----------------------------------------

I would not normally choose 38400 baud, but it is the BIOS default on
ALIX boards.
