For me, safeguard against unclean shutdown is a definite advantage since there is no convenient way to shutdown the Alix.

Subject: [Voyage-linux] Question On CF vs Microdrive

Greetings all. I'm getting ready to implement a voyage/alix watchdog server in our data center and just had a quick question on the while CF/remountrw/remountro thing.

I understand that the way it is currently done is so that the rw operations on the flash drive are kept to a minimum.

If instead of a CF card I used a Microdrive in a CF package - would that eliminate the necessity of doing the remountrw/remountro thing, or is another feature of the current setup designed to safeguard against unclean shutdowns?

Thanks in advance...
