I have pretty much the same problem, anything above 0.6 won't bootup.
I've added the all_generic_ide(which is needed for 0.6 too) to the
menu.lst,
I've tried both ide_core.nodma=0.0 and 0.1 as well as without them.
The output doesn't contain any errors apart from "Gave up waiting for
root device".
I use both soekris net4501 and net4521, neither will boot even with
these parameters added.
I used a 2GB CF card, but I don't see how thats a problem since it works
for 0.5 and 0.6.

Ive got a soekris 4801, which is a closely related product,
and have no trouble with 0.7.5 or daily-build.
Check further up in the boot log for DMA errors to /dev/[sh]d[ab]
if theyre there, Id strongly suggest ide_core.nodma=0.0 or 0.1
depending upon a or b. and add all_generic_ide for good measure
(which I dont seem to *need* but add anyway)
Without them, my voyage doesnt find root, behaves like you describe.
Ive sent a ... BOOTARGs .... a few days ago which adds these bootargs
to etc/voyage-profile/4801.profile, and installer scripts add them to
the bootline. If you try it (youll have to add BOOTARGS to 4526.pro)
and report success, the odds increase that it will be added to the
distro.
is where I get to. I have tried root devices sda1, sdb1, hda1, hdb1, the
0.7.0 release, and the daily. All are the same. There are no /dev/sd*
or /dev/hd* devices present, so it looks like there's a module missing.
I've googled plenty, but am basically coming to the conclusion that I'm
the only one using this untested combination. I'm using an 2GB adata
'speedy' CF.
Which drivers am I missing?
