A 2D3 can have a battery added to it. The pads are already there, just add the battery and it should keep the clock running over reboots.
I've been toying with the idea of selling assembled and initially installed ALIX.2Dxx to keep my order volumes high enough to maintain price points. If anyone here in the States is looking for ALIX boards with batteries, stuffed inside a case, let me know. I have a distributor a few miles from here ;)

2d3 has no bios battery and won't keep times over reboots. Alix 2d13 is
almost identical but has a bios battery. I switched to those for that

This is because the time difference is to high. Either run ntpdate to
specific servers after bootup or add the '-g' option to ntpd, prbably
best in /etc/default/ntp
