News is a discussion forum on the Internet. It is also called the Usenet.
It is divided into a range of forums, e.g. comp.sys.amiga.hardware for
Amiga hardware discussions. Your ISP probably carries several thousands
of such newsgroups. Most important are the alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.*
hierarchy because that's where you find free porno :-)
A newsgroup is a bit like a mailing list like this one.
There is numerous news readers for the Amiga. On this mailing list
we will always mention MicroDot-II first since Olli is the author
of this one (http://www.vapor.com). Then theres the port of the
normal UNIX news reader Pine, and then a lot of other Amiga news
readers like NewsRog, NewYork, WorldNews, mNews, StarGate some
add-ons to YAM and I think at least AWeb-II has a news plugin as
well. I have most probably forgot some. You will find them on Aminet
or on different WWW sites.
