Indeed I have done the same.. ie,

       protocol  service     host     mask  access  log
     
         *                $        *.*.*.*                n        y

This stops all dodgy packets, though some like ident response is denied too.
But thats a good thing sometimes.

It seems to stop naughty ppl getting anything they should not have :)
