Just my two cents for the early release.. ( put it on the 'to be sorted' heap)
It's cool to see V3 at last. Ok it doesn't have all that was expected,
but waow, it exists, it works (a few minutes) and there are many nice
things in it.
I especially liked the colorful display of the source, the download
prefs, the bookmark manager.
There are many problems with TearOff that I hope the author will
correct (is it still maintained ?) . It doesn't seem to save the
positions (or did I miss a snapshot function ?) of the bays, it
more than often puts the machine into guruland when I tweak it
a bit.. And it even rebooted my miga when in the tearoff mcp panel..
Well, not v's fault (it behaves the same with the example released
with tearoff but)..
The new navigation bar is almost as ugly as Aweb's :). But it's said
to become configurable so bah.. not important. The vertical centering
of the buttons of the nav bar would be nice anyway.
On the Js and Css point of view, I could find no site that would agree
with V3's Js. Actually, one of clickboom's page accepted to blink a
few bitmap on onMouseover events... (after popping tons of requesters)
but most of the scripts on the page seem no to declare the variable
they use... And V3 keeps popping 'unknown variable'....
On the display side, I didn't find it better than 2.95 but I'm using a
CVPPc board on a 16bit screen and had nothing to complain about
display of 2.95. Didn't notice any speed improvement when browsing
too.. In fact, it's as fast as before, ie always fast except when
there are big tables (www.realdreams.cz/amiga remains quite a painful
site to load).
Tried a page with three div (one unherited at a time, the two other
hidden) managed by a javascript tab-like system.. Well I saw nothing,
dunna which fault it is.. Dunna if Css is inside now.
The flash plugin looks nice, but something worries me a bit that is,
Ok it needs ixemul 48.0. But is this lib available in a ppc version ?
Latest ixemul ppc I could find was 47.4 and I dunna if the problems
I encountered with Flash plugin has something related to 47.4 ixemul
version or Vflash bugs.. I tried www.whatsthematrix.com. Didn't show
very good (well not very animated at least), but url handling looked
ok.
And yep about: and about:ibeta are really the best about I've ever
seen :)
Anyway, waow, I played with V3 the whole satursday. I rebooted my
miggy many times, but it's ok, amiga is superior to other oses in that
it reboots faster (plus one or two minor things).
Just one thing I'd really really really like to know.
What is C-H-A-O-S ?
