Okay now here is the weird thing.. I edited the page in question and
tried rearranging the order of the elements in the <HEAD> section in
case V3 expected to find certain elements first. After a bit of
rearranging and resaving of the file the problem has gone and I have
no idea why because the file I have ended up with is in exactly the
same format as the original.
Yet before the only way I could stop the page from crashing the
machine was to remove the meta tags.
So I dont know if there is a strange bug in V3pre5 or whether the
problem was caused by something else on my system. The only thing I
changed between it not working and the problem disappearing was that I
switched off the TCP/IP Offline Detection option, saved the
preferences, quit and then restarted and enabled the option again.
The only thing I can think of is that pre5 didnt like something in my
preferences file which was causing it to fall over. May still be
worth looking into though.
