Much as I agree with your statement about AGA being outdated and crap, the
described problem *is* software related. The "colour bleeding" effect when
scrolling was not present in V2.95 (or the early V3 releases either, I
think).

The scrolling was and never will be smooth with AGA, but earler versions of
V must have used some extra double-buffering or something to at least make
it look more acceptable. This seems to have gone - please bring it back!

Using an interleaved screen makes no difference here. I haven't changed my
MUI screen settings since V2.95, and the problem started with one of the V3
releases.
