I realised the distance difficulties when i posted the mail, couldn't you
have an E-Mail club and meet up say twice a year, once on the mainland and
once on Vancouver Island, or is that impractical too? If the ferry is $50
couldn't it be split between 4 people in the same car which would make it
cheaper. By the way this is getting way OT :-)
