OK, I got it to work with AWeb and Ibrowse, still working on
Voyager. Based on Norbert and Chris' ideas, it took
about an hour, but I got the Amiga to 'talk' through a click on the
webpage.

Note that you need the narrator.device and the 'say' command (get out
your old 1.3 disks, you'll find them there on the Workbench disks -
not sure about OS 2.x but 3.x and above don't have these files,
Commodore didn't ship it with later Amigas. You can't get these
files off Aminet, so don't bother looking (although you can get SAY
replacements and narrator utilities, but not the actual files).

What you do is the following (and those of you who predicted "death
to hard drives generally" please begin shooting holes in this method
so we can hash out all those points before I actually put this up on
my site - really, I want your feedback! :)

Here's how it worked with AWeb. I can't seem to get it to work with V, though,
IBrowse also works using this method. Anyone care to tell me where I'm going wrong in
V?

1) open the AWeb Settings/Browser Settings/Viewers;
2) hit 'add' to add a new MIME type;
3) type "AUDIO" in the 'type' box;
4) type "Narrator" in the next box to the right (which is preceded by
a forward slash ( / ) ;
5) type "say" in the Extensions box;
6) select 'external program' from the Action cycle menu on the right;
7) type "say" in the Name box;
8) type "-x %f" in the Arguments box;

Save changes. Now if you had either created a file with some bogus
text in it called <whatever>.say, or you simply unarchive the test
page Norbert included in his lha archive noted earlier, you will hear your
Amiga speak the file called by that HTML page.

Pretty cool, huh? So now let's hear the security objections to this,
and we'll go from there. Thanks!
