Hi,

V starts the following sub processes:

 V's Image Decoder Process
 V's Network and File Server
 V's DNS Server 1 - 4

NETTRACE etc. belong to the TCP/IP stack.

When you quit V, it attempts to gracefully shut down it's client
processes, first the image decoder, then the network server, then
the DNS servers. It will wait until the processes shut down properly.

There is no real reason that those processes should not die when
asked for, so this sounds like a genuine bug (possibly semaphore
deadlock or stuff).

Next time when this happens, could you please try to break the
Image decoder process (with ARTM or so, sending a SIGBREAKF_CTRL_C)
and watch whether it dies?

If V quits properly, there might be more than one "avail flush"
required to regain all memory, because of library interdependancies.

Olli
