I would concur with the original poster in that beta12 has a fair
amount of instability for me too. I've had all sorts of weird lockups,
cyberguard hits and all round weirdness when using it. Not to mention
the problems it has when just browsing around (like the click on an
image to be told "Your browser has sent an unknown request" - when
there is obviously nothing wrong with the URL eg:
http://www.blahblah.com/image.jpg - the same thing which works with
both ibrowse and aweb demos)
On a similar note, I've had problems with the download link menu, in
that sometimes it just fails immediately, but clicking the link will
download the file (although it seems my mimeprefs is ignored as well)
I have had this problem on the cybergraphics site http://www.vgr.com
when trying to collect the updates. I can't rightclick download the
link as it fails, but leftclicking on it gets it to download as a
"ViewTemp.00" cache file, which I have to go find and rename, since
the mimetype for lha files seems to be ignored and doesnt ask me where
I want it saved or as what.
The new beta seems to have problems downloading files without
completing them too. Many times it fails before completion requiring a
resume - or in the case of some images it says its downloaded the
complete file, but seems to have left the end off. I've had that
getting artwork from http://www.ps2.net/
Although more things seem to work in 3.2.12 over 3.2.4, beta12 does
seem a lot less stable for me, and this is on a system running fewer
patches than it was before. The last one I removed was executive, and
since doing V seemed crash less often, but as I have said it does
appear a lot less stable than the last V I used.
Cya,
Steven.
