I'm sorry to butt in with arguments over semantics, but this is
clearly entirely opinion orientated, as opposed to fact orientated.

V does NOT have a bug which is related to writing files. What we do
have is a program that *on some people's systems* is not as stable as
we'd like. Since it also happens to write to disk a lot it is *likely*
to cause an invalidation. The invalidation is a consequence of how
the Amiga native filing system works (and how most others, including
PC ones work). The filing system or OS isn't bugged in this respect,
the re-validation is a deliberate effort to recover from the crash
safely.

But that *is* the reality. If V crashes a lot on your system, that is
the problem. I can't see why you want to make more of it than that.
By all means find *what* causes it to crash and report it as a bug,
but to make a general statement of "V invalidates my harddrive" is a
severe oversimplification.

For the record, V hasn't crashed on my machine in the last several
weeks. I do agree it is a bit crash-prone, but if you're getting
serious random system bomb-outs when running V I'd start to look at
system patches you're running, library file versions and so on.

Ian
