Hi,
I may be getting ahead of myself as V3.3/4 is possibly less than halfway
through ßeta life, but with Olli rewritting the parser/layout engine I
would like to ask if any thought as been given to the "new" standards based
around XML. Is the parser an XML parser or something of a higher level that
is HTML aware?

The thing is that new standards for web content are based on XML, HTML4 has
been respecified as XHTML4 and standards like Math Markup Language and
Vector Drawing ML are reaching fruition. How easily will it be to add these
to V? I expect Olli et al will think of these as quite low priorty until
their use becomes wide spread, even when V3.4 is stable, and quite rightly
so.

So there is an alternative of creating an SDK similar to the plugin SDK for
embed objects. MML and VDML are written directly in the HTML in a similar
way to <SCRIPT> objects. So when V comes across a <MATH> ... </MATH> object
it will look for handler that deals with what is in between.

My motives are that I am a research associate and publishing mathematical
and technical information on the web is something very useful both for
projects and about projects. I have spent an evening converting equations
from MathScript into .gifs where I would like to just run an Arexx script
and generate the MML directly (this is something I working on at the
moment).

Regards
James
