I was about to make the point that Textinput isn't really THAT slow, but has the disadvantage over the standard BOOPSI string gadget that it's operation are not executed on the priority 20 input.device task (I tried working around this, but this would render many of TIs features useless, since they cannot possibly execute from there) However, although this may make TI appear sluggish under high system load, it shouldn't really amount to 1 chars per second even on a 7 Mhz CPU; so I conclude that something is queer. I've also spent some excessive amounts of time to optimize all of TI's rendering (nb, I assume you're running a current version of TI) Some questions: a) What OS version is this? b) Does this also happen with the "Demo" application included in the TI archives, or only within AmIRC or V? c) What Fonts are you using? Does this behavior change with different Fonts? d) Does the machine run anything which modifies input.device, Intuition or Layers behavior? e) Did you modify TI's MUI prefs? If you did, does this also happen if you reset the prefs? Thanks!
