Hi,
I realize that this may be OT, but, I do not know to whom
to turn, so please excuse this once.
My system is an A3000 w/040 @ 25 Mhz, MC 68882, 2 megs
Chip, 16 megs Fast, with its original SCSI controller. I am
running AmigaOS/DOS version 3.9. I have an internal 100 meg
HDD and 700 meg HDD running off the SCSI; as well as an Iomega
Bernoulli Box, Zip 250 drive, and Toshiba CD ROM drive running
off the same SCSI. Everything was working, just fine, until,
about a week ago, I decided to check out a CD-ROM from the
last of the AmigaActive mags (before they become "Digital").
That is when I, suddenly could not access my CD-ROM drive.
I checked all the connections and saw that nothing was
loose. I saw that, if I had a CD-ROM in the drive, as I booted
my Amiga, the access light would briefly go on, showing me
that the Amiga was in communication with the Drive. But, once
I was on the WorkBench screen, I could not access the drive,
if my life depended on it.
I then deleted just about all I could, from my s/User-Start-
up, and anyplace else where the Asimware program had placed
info. When I tried to re-install AsimCDFS, the process gets
as far as copying the "Corel" directory and then tells me that
there is a "DOS error type: cannot open file" or "DOS error
type: cannot find file." The message is slightly different,
each time I try to run the installation script.
I am completely stumped because the reason I could use my
CD-ROM drive, in the first place was because I had AsimCDFS in
place. Also, I used the same copy of the original disk to
install the program, from the same "df0:" drive, each time.
The same bad result. This happened even after I made a new
copy of the original disk, on a new, unformatted floppy, and
used that.
Any real help would be appreciated.
Julian.
