Cascading Style Sheets. The concept comes from DTP programs, where a
particular combination of font, colour, size, etc can be saved as a Style
and applied to other text.

They are "cascading" in the sense that allowance is made for several
layers of style sheets to be applied to the same text or layout. If there
is a contradiction, the last one wins.

It covers box frames etc, not just text. It's quite a good system for
commercial sites, but overkill for simple ones.
