Just happened to me and, sure enough, the arp entry had vanished for
the default gateway. Tried adding it as a static entry, but it
wouldn't let me. I had to reboot to restore connectivity.

My connectivity is Broadcom Ethernet 57xx with latest signed drivers
(12.2.2.1) from Broadcom.

Looks like there might be a real issue here...
