I am experiencing the exact same problem with VPN client 2.1.6 beta 7. My machine is also a Dell Latitude E6400 with Windows 7 64 bit Ver. 6.1 build 7600.

If I do not do this I cannot connect to the internet at all. I can connect to the internet if I uncheck the lightweight filter but I will have no VPN access till I re-check the lightweight filter.
