Could you not write a script on the remote machine to watch the CPU
usage of the ikec task and if it begins to misbehave, kill it and
restart the connection?
You could also try attaching strace or something to the ikec process to
see if helps tell you what is going wrong with ikec. You could then
provide that in a bug report to us so it could be fixed.
