The version update checker that's included in the 2.2.0 release
candidates seems to have a couple problems.
1. The page it is trying to check for the updates may be currently
returning a 403 Forbidden error. I had the dialog pop up on a machine
today but accidentally made it go away and haven't reproduced it.
2. The update checker has been wrongly telling people that are using one
of the 2.2.0 versions that 2.1.7 is available and that they need to upgrade.
