Hello Alexis,

Thank you so much for taking time to read my problem. Based on your analysis
result I have looked into the LRT214 router logs and also the Syslog results,
however without any indication why the router was sending Invalid ID. Knowing
that I had to find a solution at the Gateway, not the client side, I have tried
to change the VPN settings in the LRT214 router in the VPN, Client to Gateway
menu. Originally I had set Local Group Setup to IP address only as I have in
mind to connect via the VPN tunnel directly to the server PC on LAN address
172.16.1.30 Once I changed the Local Group Setup to Subnet, IP 172.16.1.0,
subnet mask 255.255.255.0 I was able to get the VPN tunnel connected and
established.
So far, so good, but.... I had in mind to use the VPN tunnel to connect to my
server PC, not to my entire LAN. Moreover, my server application requires to be
connected via port 8080 and I had to open this port in the router to get access
to the server but doing so, everyone who knows my hostname and this port number
can get access via internet to my server now not even using a VPN tunnel
connection, something that I intended to block with a VPN tunnel. Although this
is not completely true, you need to have an account name and password to get
into the server.
I hope you understand what I mean and even better have some tips and tricks for
me to use to make the connection to the server really save.
Again, thanks a lot for you help, I am looking forward to your reaction,

with kind regards,
Martien

Hi Martien,

>From Shrew Log, you need to check the VPN Gateway logs...

it is the VPN Gateway send invalid-id-information...

  Dear help list members,
After over 80 hours of trying to solve a problem which I experience at
setting up a VPN tunnel with my LRT214 VPN router and the Shrew VPN access
manager, I hope one of you can help me. I have attached the required logs in
the compressed folder. I have also prepared a pdf file with screen shots of the
LRT214 setup and all menu windows of the Access Manager but this file is too
big to be accepted by the help-list admin. I will be happy to send this file
directly to anyone who thinks he or she can help me.
At the gateway side I have an LRT214 router and the target PC connected,
running W7
I use the VPN client version 2.2.2. which runs on my desktop PC with W10 OS

It would be a great thing for me if I can get the problem solved as I intend
to use the VPN tunnel for safe communication between some hospitals and doctors
in Nicaragua.
