Is the maintenance burden the unwanted child, or the RPM itself?

Now that it was announced that Centos 8 will be EOL'd at the end of 2021,
yet Centos 7 EOL's in 2024, Should we go back to supporting Centos 7 or
should we plan to drop the process of building rpms before Centos 8 ends
support?
