it has to do with how the directories are split and 
simplifiying the code to get it out the door into 
production. vpopmail uses single letters for each 
sub directory (for efficent splitting of user directories).

This would conflict with email accounts of a single letter.
The easiest solution was to just refuse single letter email
addresses. I didn't have the time to put in the code to allow
for both single letter email addresses and the directory structure.
So I put it off for another time or for others to work on. Personally,
I don't have any single letter email addresses. So it wasn't
a "scratch" i had to itch.
