Upcoming util-vserver 0.29 will solve this. Can you try the latest

candidate (http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~ensc/util-vserver/rc) and

if it fixes your problems?
Yes, I think it will. I tried:
http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~ensc/util-vserver/rc/util-vserver 
-0.28.91.tar.bz2
and all seemed to work right.
