every now and then (when one of the debian maintainers
pay a visit or some debian folks with personal agenda
come around, and provide a simple patch to get the a
debian kernel from vanilla) I update the patches to the 
debian sources, those patches should work here too ...

which IMHO is the better solution anyway, as the vanilla
patches (vserver wise) are much more tested than the 
debian patches ...
