This sounds interesting....
I haven't checked it myself yet...but I'm wondering why 0.30.204 works and 
0.30.205 doesn't..hmm. :-)

Too bad, but, i have vserver working right now!
I tried util-vserver-0.30.205 and -0.30.205-r1 which had the same
'Etruncate' error that you had (if i'm correct). But -0.30.204
compiled on my system!
