Hi guys, yes, version 0.30.208-r2 solves this problem. I should have tried it before, but I haven't had ~x86 in package.keywords for util-vserver. Now even halt inside the 'virtual machine' works and vserver XXYY exec init 0 works too. Great work. Thanks guys.
