just for the record, on IRC we found out that:

 - a guest script was setting the host name to dusk
 - the config was missing an i386 entry in */machine

this means you forgot to specify the 'attrs' option
which is (for reiserfs) required to support attributes

(it basically means no unification, immutability and 
barrier protection)
