Hello list,
Im sorry for asking this but i havent been reading all the emails on this list.
Either way, can anybody give me feedback on the "bug in sched.c" ??
I have 2 servers that keep crashing with it...
Can't help you here...
Has anybody been able to analise what causes it and how to patch it??
PS: and what about quota solutions? can anybody give me some pointers on it? :o)
Herbert Ptzl has a very nice page about this:

WELP.
Ok 6 times in 24 horus ctx15 crashed on me sched.c:572 It IS network related that I'm 100% sure of. I dunno if I got a bad card or what. However the only other cards I have are National Semiconductor DP83815 NICs. The downloadable kernel do not have support for it. Figure no big deal. Just grab the patch and download the kernel.
Grabbed linux-2.4.20.tar.bz2 and patch-2.4.20ctx-16.gz cd /usr/src/ patch < patch-2.4.20ctx-16
patching file linux-2.4.20/Makefile can't find file to patch at input line 20 Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option? The text leading up to this was:
And a lot more that it can't patch.
Is this not the kernel it's written for ?? What is up with this ? Am I just to stupid today to run patch to apply the patch to the kernel ?
I moved the HD into a different machine that been running freevsd just fine for 100 days straight when I shut it down last night. However it had a DP83815 card in it and the precompiled kernel do not have support for this card. The only card that I have that is NOT a DP83815 is the crappy DLink 530+.
What can I do to document the crashes better ? if I use the ctx15 kernel I get kernel BUG at sched.c:572 invalid operand : 0000 CPU : 0 EIP 0010[<c0113da4>] Not tainted EFLAGS: 00010292
When I run the ctx16 kernel I get the same thing with the difference the line in sched.c is 570.
