I note the fact that UTF-8 works with files even though it doesn't work
with the console. So how about adding a --output option to ssphys that
writes the XML to the specified output file? This would also simplify the
logic in vss2svn.pl that redirects the ssphys output to a temporary file
and then slurps it back in.
