Eric,

I'm sure you'll get as many differing answers to perfered TCL books as
answers to which distribution of Linux is best! <g> For me, when I
first was learning TCL, I picked up Practical Programming in TCL and TK
by Brent B. Welch and Graphical Applications with TCL and TK by Eric
Foster-Johnson. Both were, in my opinion, excellent books. If I had to
choose one, I would go with Graphical Applications as it gets you
writing more useful applications pretty quickly and does not focus
strictly on TK. As for syntax between OS's, the only syntax that would
differ between scripts would be OS specific commands or features. ie,
having an NT application talking to the registry. One of my first
applications was automating builds of client/server software on NT. I
used the same scripts with only minor changes when we migrated to
Solaris. Hope this helps.
