Only wanted to state, that the GPL does NOT prohibit commercial
development of software, it only prohibits to make a software product
closed source.

Comercial open source software benefits economically via payed
maintainance, installation, configuration and consulting services.

Still I understand the point, that there are programmers which feel
that they need to close their source (difficult with Tcl though), to
get the necesarry advantage over competetors to make their living.

So it would surely benefit the spread of VTcl to fix this part of the
License. If you (we?) are more interested in spreading the open source
paradigm, and you (we) are confident about the power of VTcl it could
stay the way it is.

Why not ask the FSF about their opinion?
