The ... ahemm ... Sam - project which I am ... ahemm ... monitoring,
has some kind of rudimentary Formulary printing system.
We use a very simple Form description "language", in effect active
tcl-tokens, to put Database-field printouts on a specific x/y
position on a canvas.
Unfortunately the canvas widget requires you to open a window to
export it's content to PostScript (or maybe I haven't read the docs
with sufficient determination), anyway, when generating a printout a
window pops up for some seconds.
The Sam - project is not in publishable state as of yet (although
working), but I can send you the sources and give you some hints
about where are the glamourous routines about form printing.
