Yeah, I've seen that one after upgrading to 8.4.2.
8.4.0 had an ugly Windows scrollbar bug that was fortunately fixed in 8.4.2
but then 8.4.2 has some new img bugs it seems.
You could disable the tips by editing .vtclrc
Add or modify the line in .vtclrc so it reads:
set vTcl(pr,dontshowtips) 1
Let me know if this works.

Hi,
I get the following error while trying to start vtcl. The only change
I've made latelly is an update to activetcl 8.4.2. Any hint on how to
solve this? (apart from going back to 8.3.4?)
It happens both with vtcl-1.6.0a2 and the latest cvs and I'm on linux
mandrake 9.
