I'm using the Bowman window manager under Linux-- a variant of the fvwm window
manager. In vt-1.08 beta, many windows appear without decoration, using
overrideredirect, and I'm unable to place them or manipulate them. This is especially
inconvenient with the widget info window which requires resizing to display the
contents of the window.
It well may be that with other window managers, or other platforms, this new
display technique is better, but could it perhaps be an option?
