I notice that tk_strictMotif is set to 1 in vTcl:setup so that vtcl
applications are strict motif. This setting is not saved in the project file
so when you run the app stand alone it become non-strict motif (which i happen
to prefer - because it tells the user what part of the GUI to try clicking on).
What I have noticed, however, is that turning off strict motif causes the
widgets to grow very slightly (only some of them, and that by only 1 pixel or
so). This makes it necessary to make the toplevels slightly larger than needed
in the strict (development) mode.
To work around this, I put a statement in my main to turn strict motif off.
This seems to cause vtcl itself display problems as some buttons are slightly
cut off (i.e. the "height" button in the geo manager reads "eight").
So I was about to recommend that strict motif should become a global
preference (and should be saved in the project file) but it seems that the
widget size problem (or is it the font size?) should be solved first. Any
guesses?
