Folks,
I just heard from Dan Brush, President of the Vermont AFL-CIO, that he
is inviting me to speak as Vermont Green Party Candidate for Vermont Attorney
General, along with mostly Democratic politicians and candidates for state and
federal offices, at the Vermont AFL-CIO convention this Saturday morning at the
Sheraton.
The other candidates speaking at the convention include former Governor
Howard Dean, Senator Pat Leahy, Congressman Bernie Sanders, Pete Clavelle (Mayor
of Burlington and Democratic candidate for Governor), Vermont Attorney General
William Sorrell, and the Progressive and Democratic candidates for Lt. Governor,
Steve Hingtgen and Cheryl Rivers. I will probably be the only speaker from
a minor party. I believe I received the invitation largely because I am a member
of the Communication Workers of America and a member of the governing council of
CWA local 1701, the Alliance of IBM Employees.
See http://www.vermontgreens.org/jamesleas.html for
my bio and position statement
While at the convention I will also be working with other union members
campaigning for passage of a resolution calling for bringing all the
soldiers home from Iraq now.
For those who can get to Barre, Vermont tonight there is a debate of
gubernatorial candidates at the Old Labor Hall from 7 to 8:30 sponsored by the
AFL-CIO. I will attend and hand out a flyer for my campaign.
