REFUSING TO SERVE IN PALESTINE
Presentation by: NOAM BAHAT, 21- year old Israeli Refuser and MOSTAFA OMAR, with the International Socialist Organization Thursday November 4, 7pm University of Vermont 315 Living and Learning Complex Noam Bahat, was born in Nirit, a little settlement near the green line (the 1948 border line between Palestine and Israel). In September 2004, Noam was released from jail after 645 days of imprisonment. Him and four other draft-age Israelis refused conscription to the Israeli Defense Forces. Mostafa Omar is a contributor to The Struggle for Palestine (Haymarket Books), and has been an activist in the Palestine solidarity movement. He tours the U.S. speaking on issues relating to Islam and the Middle East. He is a proponent of a single, secular and democratic Palestine with equality between Jews and Arabs.
