Hello fellow VTJPers I miss you all so much. I will be back in Vermont in the beginning of June and look forward to seeing everyone. I have been very busy with ISM...doing trainings, helping with press releases, helping with the evaluation process of ISM, etc. And most importantly I have been busy helping at Mohammed's mom's farm, which is so much fun!!
I wanted to send this poem from Abed from Al Rowwad written on the day of Nakba (the Catastrophe, what Israelis call their Independence Day). See you all soon S'ra Because we are a people who loves life Because we dont want to weep on our past Because we are not in love with misery and weeping parties Because we refuse to be imprisoned in the barbaric cages that Israel want to push us in like savage beasts Because we are human beings defending our humanity, and fighting continuously to keep this humanity in us Because we are a people who has a just cause, and who seeks justice continuously, regardless of time Because we are a people who resist mainly through non violence resistance Because we dont ask for pity and beg for our rights Because we do not accept sales made by the dwarfs of history o Geneva tables on our internationally recognized rights We dare to challenge the hypocritical silence We resist We revivify our and your memory and we commemorate this Nakba, our Nakba, so that the generations continue to remember, that the right is the right, and it should be restored to its owners. Neither the time, nor the illegal wishes of forces of occupation and dwarfs of history can eliminate that. This is a just cause, for a just people, that until now has not received a just consideration. I was born in a refugee camp, and there is nothing I can do about it. I was born Palestinian, and I dont want to do anything to change this. I was born in occupied Palestine, and I shall do everything possible or impossible to change that. And you know what: You are all going to help me make this change.
