To the Corporation for Public Broadcasting:

I am writing to express my strong disagreement with the charge that NPR’s reporting on Israeli-Palestinian issues is pro-Arab or pro-Palestinian. Nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, it is a well-documented fact that reporting by all broadcasting services, including NPR, is biased against Palestinians. (see FAIR reports) For example, Palestinian deaths are reported at a much smaller rate than Israeli deaths regardless of the fact that the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers and civilians is much higher than of Israelis killed by Palestinians. Furthermore, pejorative adjectives such as “radical” are very often used as a matter of course whenever referring to Palestinians, Arabs, or Muslims. NPR, of all the American networks, is the most balanced in its reporting and the most willing to take the time to try to educate Americans about the complexity of the issues in the Mideast. This attack, and the attacks on PBS and NPR more generally, are clearly political and totally inappropriate.
