Explore a variety of maps and use them to understand and explain the
situation in Palestine and Israel. Maps can back up your argument in a
letter to the editor or to your member of Congress.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
(OCHA) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories offers excellent resources on
its web site: http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt

Two examples are provided here. The "Palestinian Enclaves between the Wall
and the Green Line" effectively shows the communities, population and lands
affected by the Wall in the Northwestern West Bank. Here is the link:
http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt/maps/barrier/new_wall_oct03.pdf
If this URL doesn't come through intact, go to this link -
http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt - and click on "Barrier Maps" at the
"Map Center."

The April 2005 map of "West Bank Closures" is fine tool with an up to date
report of the progress of the Wall. At the Women of the ELCA Triennial
Gathering in San Antonio last week, I saw many participants' eyes opened by
taking a good hard look at this map. It is very detailed. Here is the link:
http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt/maps/Closure/may05/ochaClosureRpt260405M
p2.pdf
Again, if you have trouble with the link, go to
http://www.humanitarianinfo.org/opt and click on "Closure Maps."

If you want to print a large-size copy of a map like these for education or
a bulletin board, go to a business center like Office Max or Kinko's and use
their computer to download the file. Then you can have the pros print and
laminate it for you.

Additional maps are available for you at
